Featured Looking for ID on this Serpent Pendant

    You're a worldy bunch--can someone ID this serpent motif for me? It's on an Alva Museum Reproductions pendant. I'm thinking Viking or Scandinavian?

    Do you see any markings ANYWHERE on it??? If you perchance DO, PLEASE post the images!!! They'd be much help in ID-ing it, I'm sure!!! From the one image, it looks very nice.....

    Gorgeous pendant, Curioser.
    Agree. These mythical beings are usually seen on Chinese Archaic jade Bi discs, which symbolize heaven. The decoration on the rounded part is also typical Archaic Chinese. The animals are usually described as dragons, which makes sense with a representation of heaven.

    Wow! I am so impressed! So, these are NOT Celtic dogs. And, I will learn the difference between serpents and dragons. I appreciate the pics of museum artifacts--they put the Alva design in context. Thanks soooo much!
