Any idea origin, age, or any information on these? One is clearly a coat rack.... Side of mirror.jpg Louis Mirror.jpg Top of Mirror.jpg Back Coat Rack.jpg Coat rack.jpg

Second one is circa 1910. Probably oak under that paint. Should not be gold. First looks French in style but could have been made elsewhere. Can't tell age. Can we see the back?

Would you remove the paint and restor or re-stain the oak?

Your French style mirror is definitely 20th century. Could be as early as the 30s but on in to the 60s is just as likely. Could be made in Italy as well.

I doubt you will be able to get the gold paint out of the grain on the other mirror. You could try stripping a spot first to see. Otherwise, paint to taste. Not terribly valuable so really whatever is your preference.

Okay, so I stripped most of the paint off the frame (there are some hard to get to places) but I will continue working on that. The mirror is a Durand Silvering March 1914 mirror. I still need to figure out how to remove the paint from the hardware, it is silver-like metal underneath the gold paint. I was thinking to stain it golden oak and cover in tung oil

I might go a bit darker than golden oak myself. Think Mission furniture dark oak. Lacquer thinner should strip the paint from the hooks.
