I have never had an embarrasing moment, those around me seem to have them often.

I bought a vintage MIJ Christmas Girl with Reindeer a few summers ago at an estate sale. I was so excited as it was in such great shape and I knew I could triple what I paid for it since the seller had no idea of what price it went for online.

Got it home and in my rush to get it photographed, I held it by runners on the sled that the Christmas Girl was sitting in and they snapped off like twigs.

I almost cried. Instead I listed it at a very discounted price for someone who could glue the runners back on and enjoy the item as flawed. I still made a nice profit, but no where near what I could have gotten if I had not messed up.
It sold and I learned to stop rushing when trying to get my items ready for pictures.:arghh:

Went to an antique auction, during the Preview, picked up an 1800s banjo clock and the end broke off. Felt terrible, told the auctioneer who was mad, but I didn't want someone buying it not knowing it was now broken!

Went to a hoity-toity (sp?) estate sale, picked up a vase from the mantle, turned it over to check if it had a maker's mark and ashes fell out! THAT was so embarassing!

Haven't posted in awhile, but @Mansons, I gotta say, WHO are you (?) to have mingled with Royalty--no really, see my avatar, I am so curious! I know the internet is supposed to be anonymous, but I gotta know, help a girl out! You sound like you have many more stories to tell!

Oh, I'm the mystery Man! Not really, there is a lot about me on my forum, the link for which is just below each of my posts.

PS I "mingled" with royalty because they were acquaintances of my parents/grandparents. And through those connections I got a job as an Equerry for a Queen/Royal Family (Not Elizabeth), but I was based here in the US. And I did NOT deal with horses!

Thank you Mansons, spent several HOURS reading your board last night. Fascinating really! Husband finally said, when are you coming to bed? Hope your health issues have improved. I must say, your story really got to me.

I really think your life's story is worthy of a screenplay, ala Forrest Gump. Though it would probably take 2 or 3 movies to cover it all. Still dying to know your/your family's identity, after all, what happened is all in the past...

It is always best use reply on the actual post's reply button as you did. :)
Many use the bottom of the page button which throws confusion into the thread.
I only use the bottom reply when I'm adding something not specific to a statement. :)

Actually you are probably much to young to recognize my family - but there are still a bunch of codgers as well as historians who will. Since I am the last of the line in this country I may just have my executors post a Big Reveal when I finally go under. Then you can all say "I knew Him!!!"....................and those you are saying it to can say "Who in hell cares!!!"..................
