Well, it looks like they're lying about free access. I found my father-in-law's Marine Corp records, but when I clicked on his name it takes me to a page that demands I sign up before I can see the page. Ugh!

 

Only some things are free apparently. I found a casualty report on my distant cousin Harry, but it's one of the paid pages unfortunately.

Got him - died in a munitions accident in the run-up to D-Day.

It was a little before my time, and I think he was something like a second cousin twice removed.

 

I do understand and my sentiments are for a man who served his country and lost his life doing so. My thanks to him, for a man such as him, and to a person related to him.

 

Seems typical of Ancestry...

 

Sadly, so many sites are like that......suck you in and then......"oh, by the way, we have the information you want, but........." even addresses and phone #s used to be free......try and find those really FREE sites now....

 

Some of the free stuff is free if you register. Sneaky way of collecting email addresses, but their stuff can always go straight to your spam trap.
