IMG_2361.JPG My father found this while digging some land here in Iowa, and he is unsure of what it is. He says its made of a magnetic metal, and is a little bigger than a quarter. He is unsure if it is a coin, or button. . Any insight would be appreciated!

Could be a button or type of token. What's the other side of it look like?

The other side is just flat. No design.

    Maybe it was a pendant....
Any evidence the loop is missing?

Does the back look like it ever had a stem or any attachment points?

Acanthus design in the center, six flowers around the center, six spiral limbs from center with three having the same patterns. No location about where it was found, possibly a betting token.

If it were for a horse, it would be brass instead of steel. Brass doesn't rust when it gets wet. It might be a decoration off of a chest or something similar.
