I bought these glasses at a tag sale many years ago. I believe the woman was Czech and she told me these glasses came from there. They are 6 1/8 inches tall.

Can anyone identify age, country, maker? cordial 1.jpg cordial 2.jpg cordial 3.jpg cordial 4.jpg

Stemware is designated by the size of the drink it will hold. A cordial is about an ounce.

Oh ok. I don't know much about any glassware! Maybe it's for wine then. It holds about 4 oz

I have a collection of about ten sets of cordials and I concur - too big!

the engraving lines and swings are so unsteady that I believe it's done by an amateur.

In an earlier time that would have been the water glass.
Today it is a wine glass.

Think it was somewhere in the late 1980s or 1990s that wine glasses started to get really large compared to what they used to be.

They sell more wine that way.

That looks like a needle etch to me. The glass is coated with a resist. The resist is thn removed with a needle to create the the design. Not something armatures would do.

I was wondering about that, too, Yes, needle etched, mid to 3/4 of the 20th century, resurrected an old technique. Good Call, George.
