Not trying to commit a thread-jacking here, but would either of you know if these mugs were made in black glass? I have 2, but can find no evidence that the Nursery Rhyme mugs from Tiara ever came in black glass.

Since they did other pieces in black I would think it would be a good possibility.

Tiara made no glass but like Wright had other companies ,akle their products. In this case mainly Indiana glass Co. It is likely that they had these made in black opaque glass. There is a use book available.

George, thanks for clarifying my response.:happy::happy:

Thanks also for reminding me that I wanted to see if I could find a copy of that book. I come across a lot of Tiara pieces & have been thinking about getting a copy for quite some time.

    Thanks, George and Peggy.

I may try to find one of these books as well. Every couple of months or so (when I remember), I search to try and find another black one shown ... anywhere.

Have only ever found this one on Worthpoint ... but it gives no useful info to further my research http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/black-glass-mug-tom-tom-pipers-son-415983757

On this site with a lot of info about Tiara/Indiana Glass, there is no mention of the Nursery Rhyme / Child's Set pattern being made in black ... http://tiaraexclusives.ueuo.com/Product/Product.htm

maybe a mistake? someone just goofing around at the glass factory? it is an odd color choice for a child's mug ...
