A while back, I saw the earrings that matched this necklace under sold listings on ebay but can't find the listing now. I think it had the word mogul in the title or description and I was surprised that it sold so high. I knew I had the necklace somewhere and today, I accidentally found it. Do you recognize it?
Approximately 22" long tip to tip and each pearl & cabochon piece is 1" long 7/8" wide. Photographs aren't great, I didn't have my lights set up. Thank you.

1980s? It better be! Here's other examples from same period. Not familiar with a Mogul jewelry brand but there is a Mogul-style in jewelry. Yours wouldn't be considered such.

Thank you. I should have worded my post more clearly. I didn't think the brand was mogul but just part of the description which, like you found, seemed to bring up 80's pieces. It looks like 1980's accessories are a hit right now. I wonder if the shoulder pads will make a comeback too?

Agree, extremely 80s, and I am already seeing shoulder pads returning to the Dutch streets, so brace yourself.;)
Mogul is the same as Mughal, the old Indo-Persian empire. Some people will call anything with clear 'gemstones' and pearls Mogul/Mughal. It is not like the true Mughal style, of course.

The main Mughal jewellery styles in present day Pakistan and northwestern India:

The above shown 1980s jewelry, esp. the "cross" necklace in the center is inspired/based on the Byzantine jewelry/goldsmith works.
Starting around 1955 Coco Chanel designed Byzantine/Venetian inspired jewelry collections and continued this in the 1960s. Later other courturiers/high fasion houses such as YSL or Dior adopted the style until it trickled down in the mainstream an reached its pinnacle in the 1980s. I still think that they are great statement pieces that can still be worn today, though maybe without the shoulder pads (some things belong to oblivion).

IMO the style reached its pinnacle in 1988 with Lacroix’s crosses. I thought about converting so I could wear one.

AJ OMG those first two...I’d wear em with jeans!
