    I'm guessing that the blue spots are not ink.

    If they are I might vote for the inkwell too :)

    Not an inkwell. Without a cap, the ink would dry out too fast. And I see no evidence of a cork stopper, which an inkwell wouldn't have had, anyway.

    If it is, I'd still say inkpot with a hole for the pen to stand up in.
