Featured Odd earring No 1! Amber

The dangle is unusual, for sure.
I am an amber addict (no treatment for that ) and have quite a lot of Baltic amber that has that clarity. I'll see if I can find something and take a photo tomorrow.

Another amber addict! Yay! And have a 'thing' for amber wi th bugs (uh, not mocked up), so have several including this necklace from Russia

 

I adore Amber but I've also come to the conclusion that sometimes I can't definitively prove to myself that it is Amber.
I look at the overall qualities of the piece and whether this is glass (definitely not), Amber or some type of plastic doesn't really matter to me as I love it. It feels and weighs like it is Amber. I'm not ready to sell it yet (sorry AJ, I'll let you know if I am) and if I did I would disclose my uncertainty (Fortunately AJ knows I'm a true amateur!)
My test was limited to a UV (which I'll take a photo of later) as I can't float it and I'm not sticking a pin in it. As I've become *fractionally* less amateur, I've realised some bits of my 'Amber' aren't, and some bits of 'plastic' are!.
That's a spectacular lump of Amber Kathy, I haven't got anything like that, just lots of beads and odds and ends.

That is a serious chunk of amber! Love the necklace too.
My mother used to have a pair of long dangle amber earrings with genuine period bugs. She bought them in Denmark. I have no idea what happened to them, they were not in the boxes I got after she passed away.
