Featured Bracelet sections adapted into earrings?

I think the black stones on these are glass ...they have clip on backs glued onto them, they look like maybe they were sections of a bracelet perhaps originally? There's a lot of very small delicate wire work in these... where and when might they have been made? They are about 1.25 inches wide (3 cm)

    Thanks for having a look!

I had a brooch with that exact finish with red and blue stones. I want to say it was English, but that was a very long time ago and my memory isnt what it was.

I'm with Xristina, they are Chinese. They could have been bracelet links, or possibly made to match a bracelet. The positioning of the clips is a bit odd imo.

Aaron, I am clearly having problems with my eyesight. Ever since you changed your avatar pic, I have been seeing a Modernist blob. Only now do I see it is a very cute elephant teapot.:hilarious: Or is that my eyesight again?:D

I have days were I feel very blob-like - so that it was definitely possible that you had it right...however... it IS a very cute elephant teapot! Here are a couple more pics...

Wow, I have to look thru my grandma's jewelry I have here. That photo made me think of a brooch she had way back when. Pretty.

If you are planning to sell, I would recommend trying the earrings on... do they stay on? This will be important to the buyer if to be used/sold as earrings. I think would find a buyer if yes.

And finally, DO NOT LAUGH, but I also paused when I saw your avatar. Now it looks like an adorable elephant tea kettle of course, but first thought was it was a medical model of a stomach. (Too much listening to medical experts online these days, perhaps.)

So I’m new here. Just posted my first thing yesterday.A complete newb. But, I spent a couple of my teenage years in Indonesia. This reminds me of filigree jewelry I saw there. I have a silver bracelet that is similar with those flowerets. Would post a pic, but can't seem to find it. Anyways, just a thought. There is a large Chinese influence in Indonesia.

I'd certainly agree on Chinese. Those backs are very like some nice old filigree brooches I have.

These look like something you would see in an upmarket auction catalogue. The black background really sets them off. Lovely.

I think this is often referred to as 'Chinese Export' jewelry. I have a set with very find filigree that is gold over silver. Think most was made around the turn of the last century - and some has been recently copied and sold. The bracelet (2nd picture) in the Google search looks a lot like your earrings.

Lucille, I'm glad I wasn't the only one.:)
And I think your interpretation is much more, shall we say, true to life, than my Modernist blob.:playful:

    Welcome c.free.:)
I can see how you thought of a relationship with Indonesian filigree and granulation techniques, which in my opinion are among the finest in the world. Their style and finesse are native to Indonesia, but related fine gold and silverwork can be seen in its neighbouring countries the Philippines and Malaysia.
The Peranakan (Straits Chinese) style of Indonesia and neighbours is a result of the merging of two cultures.

These earrings are classic Chinese though. When it comes to the filigree, the symmetrical cloud scrolls are very Chinese. In Indonesia filigree or granulated scrolls are more likely to be floral, or look like rolling waves, a reference to being a maritime nation. Chinese granulation is not as fine as Indonesian work.
Another sign is the mesh back and its supporting surround that almost looks like crochetwork, that is typical Chinese.

For comparison the hilt cup and ring on my ancestral keris, Madurese (former Indonesian island state) craftsmanship:

And a detail of two of my ornamental hairpins:

Cool, thanks! Loved the jewelry, but never paid attention to the small details, or learned much about it. Loved the batik as well.
