Dating stickpins?

    I was just wondering if there were any guidelines out there on how to date stickpins? Like brooch pins? While surfing on ebay I saw one listing where it said Victorian stickpins have the twist in the middle of the pin? Is this true at all?

    Maybe this could be found on collectors groups (not a member of any stick pins group, so IDK...)
    From my experience, prominent twist, when there, is sign of early pieces. All my pieces from 1900 to 1930 are smooth.
    As Komo said, the style and construction of the head is more appropriate in dating;)

    You can get a general idea from the construction. Stick pins were worn in mens' cravats/ties for a couple of hundred years. Let us see the mystery pieces.(LOL)
