    Good evening,

Would anyone know the age and details of my antique mirror. It has been in the family for many years and I am very interested in knowing a bit more about it?

    Thanks in advance

Hi Nix. Welcome.......Looks Victorian to me, but wait for those in the know to come along and tell you more.

Just wondering tho, does it stand alone on the floor, or is it suppose to hang on the wall?

Definitely welcome! That's a heckuva mirror! I'm guessing you're not in the USA? I don't know enough to call it anything but over the top Victorian.

I think about 1875 give or take and likely German in origin.

I actually thought about editing my reply after to something more along the lines of 'Looks like what Jesus 'apparently' looked like'. In all fairness the idea of it being Jesus is extremely unlikely as it doesn't really correspond to the rest of the piece at all does it...

Oh, but if He can ride on the dashboard of your car, or stick to your fridge on a magnet, why NOT carved on a mirror???:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Not German. I need a close up of that helmed head and the figures on either side please. Oh, and the back.

Your family got any colonial service links?
