Trying to identify; child's military-style uniform?

Not sure where to start here, I've been told it's a uniform of some sort, definitely for a child, but appears to have military buttons on it. Is it possible this was hand-made for the child of a member of the military?

Any and all help would be appreciated. Thank you!

 

I think that's Air Force...or Army Air Corps.
It was the style for children to wear such things during WWII
Mostly Sailor suits of some style.
I may be interested if you're going to part with it.

What I would have expected to be pants, appears to be a skirt?

How long is it from waist to hem?

 

The photo just makes it look funny, they are pants, just the legs crossed over off the edge of the table.

The pants are about 20" long from the waist to the bottom of the leg opening (hem? not too familiar with clothing terms).

 

I'd have to think on what I might pay.
I don't collect other than Navy and I have children's (boys) 'actual' navy blues, not the girl's 'sailor suits' nor variations on those for boys either.

You beat me to it, King. It took me too long to find my great-uncle's uniform button and various other uniform insignia from WWII. He was a Major in the Army.

Spectre - if it wasn't for the buttons on this outfit, I would not think it military. It could be that the pants were cut down to child size from something Dad or older brother had worn (if the Dad or brother was thin) but the material does not remind me of anything military either.

 

From what I can see, it looks to be machine made vs. handmade. The reinforcement at the end of the zipper, the flat stitched seams on the outside of the pants legs and around the armholes, looks like a binding used around the collar neckline inside, extremely straight stitching, all indicate to me that it was machine/industry made.

 

Does 1940s sound about right?
The legs are very wide.
I'm not a fabric person, but it looks heavier. Gaberdine?
