    Hello everybody,

I have bought an opaline glass vase.
It's beautifully enameled, a quite large.

    Height: 18,5 cm / 7.28 inch.
    Diameter (top): 14,8 cm / 5.8 inch.

Numbered at the bottom: 2 or 9.
Can't really see pontilmark. Maybe it's been polished.

    All hand-painted.

    Condition:
*Inside the vase there is a yellow colored tarnish.
I don't know how to remove this. It's visible from the outside.

*Around the purple lines, there should be a black line too.
Looks like it's been done with a pencil/marker.
    Only the black lines vanished.

*Inside the "?cartouches?", the enameled leaves are having some wear/bits off.)

I also like to know, how this type of cut is been called.
Myself, I call it a crown-top, but googling that doesn't get me any matches.

And I know there are many of these vases with kind of cut.
I believe it's either bohemian or french.

Any ideas about age, origin, and value are welcome!

    Thank you very much!

    Height should be: 38,5 cm/ 15.15 inch.

Didn't know how to edit this afterwards.

20 years ago this would have been called "Bristol" in the US, but with the understanding that Bristol, England had little to do with it.
Today it's known as Boheminan, there exist catalogs from distribution firms that show many of this style. I've never seen one term used to describe the treatment of the top. Yes, it's cut and polished, yes, there's a lot of it around, no, I don't know a name for it. Its a very nice piece. There is some thought that this decoration may have been made for the middle Eastern market. Made probably in the first 10 years of the 20th century.

Agreed - Bohemian enamelled glass, early 20th. Prettier than most examples, in my view.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Truly, I know diddly squat about this stuff, but my first thought when looking was Indian or Middle Eastern, and Tulip leaves for the top, but WHDIK!!!!!

I would put vinegar in the vase for the yellow, let it soak maybe over night then rinse, hopefully it will be gone. I some times use Lime Away.
The top reminds be of a handkerchief edge. Maybe not right, but reminded me of it.

    Agree with Cherryhill.
Called Bristol Style, but has nothing to do with England.

    Crown Cut, not top.
    Enamel painted Satin glass.

    1890s - Pre WWI Bohemia/Czech.

Yes that might be a good idea. I'll give it a try.
Otherwise I'll probably need to buy a pipe cleaner or something

Yes I think it's very nice too.
Unfortunately the leaves are a little damaged.
Overall condition is still very good.

(Kind of) Simillar vases that I could found are these 3:

Does anyone have any idea about it's value?
Because I'm thinking about selling it.

I think that the Vase would have Prisms hanging down from the top.

I don't see how. Where would they be attached?
There are no holes in the glass.
(Like in the lustre in placed here today)
