    After a less than glorious start yesterday, I'm having another try at seeking info about a recently acquired part eggshell porcelain tea/coffee set. I'm probably still doing this incorrectly but will hopefully improve my posts with use.
    I believe this is a Chinese or Japanese eggshell porcelain part tea or coffee set. The mark on each piece is painted. I'm told that the mark is either one Chinese character or two Japanese characters meaning rock/stone or mountain in both languages. The painting is part underglaze with some overglaze relief. Does anyone recognise the form, region, date, maker?

    I don't know the answers, but I love the set! And Full Image is best, as Davey said. I like your photos.

    Someone who can read the marks and ID the items will be along later.
    On a side note I was told many years ago that these China tea services from Japan are quite common in coastal port cities of the UK.
    I have one brought back from Japan in the late 20`s to Hull by my paternal grandfather a who was a merchant seaman.
    I note you are located in a northern port and this was probably brought back by a merchantman.

    Yes, that makes sense. This was once a very busy port so I expect you're right. It definitely has some age to it.

    So, @daveydempsey, when does "FULL IMAGE" become a STANDARD FEATURE and nobody has to write tomes and keep suggesting to newbies that's what they need to do?????? JUST posing a heartfelt question here.....:happy::happy::happy::happy::happy::happy::happy:

    Its not standard, its just the way the site is set up.
    I edit the pictures when I can, if I have the time.

    @daveydempsey
    Where is Peter?
    I contacted him via conversation over a month ago about this and never had a reply.
    Is he still around? Is he ok?

    Peter last logged in here on Feb. 25, 2017. So he has been dropping in sometimes, but I haven't seen him post anything in a while.

    He rarely comes here as himself, he has another Admin ID so he may drop in covertly, he also runs several other forum sites with a combined membership of over 50,000 so you can imagine how many messages he gets.
    Nothing can be done to change the format of posting images, they also complain about it on CoinTalk which has been running over a decade.
