This is a tip on how to tarnish silver in 15min which normally takes dozens of year.

polishing antique silver or coins can sometimes devalue your item. Do you have a antique piece of silver which is polished and you want to give it back its patina.

Tip: boil a egg and mash it up. put it in a bag and put the silver item with it and seal the bag air tight. wait for approx 10 to 15min and check the piece if the desired patina is reached. The longer you leave it in the bag the more tarnish it will develop.

I do not take any responsibility Please use a other piece of silver first that has no value to try this method out and to see if you like the effect before you apply this to your antique piece.

Tarnish and patina are 2 entirely different things. The only situation I can think of where someone might want to use this method is if an item was cleaned with Tarnex or one of the other "dip" cleaners. A good quality polish will never over clean to this extent.

Disreputable coin people use several methods to TONE silver coins.

Put a coin in a potato and bake it.

Put a coin in a brown paper bag with banana skin

Place a coin in sulphur or sulfur powder.

Dip the coin in Gun Blue paste.

Yes you are correct. My mother thong is not Engl
I didn't mean it in a criminal way. I for example make silver jewellery and hammer it down. Than I use the eggs to tarnish the silver and after that I polish it sothat the tarnish stays in the dents.

I thoight maybe I could help people here. But I guess Im teaching people the wrong things. not my itention really.

    Should i remove this topic?

When you use a solution or other substance it is called an applied patina, many people use a liver of sulfur solution..... http://www.cooltools.us/v/vspfiles/..._artists_guide_to_liver_of_sulfur_patinas.pdf

Yes that is correct. The eggs also produce this iron sulfur. That is what you smell when you peel a egg. Same as the techniques which daveydempsey mentioned, all produce iron sulfate. it just a easy way for the common people to use if they do not have the sulfur solution at hands.

Banana skins work really well when some fool has used Tarnex.
