Davey has been very busy lately, so maybe @Bookahtoo will see this first?:)
Yes, it is. It is called French Jet, which isn't jet but glass made to look like jet.;) It is lovely Bou, late 19th century, and still in pretty good condition. Looks like you can repair those loose bits.
Collar stud maybe? Very pretty, enamelled and missing stones around the edge. I am sure you can find stones somewhere in your hoarditorium.:) I am thinking clear, faceted paste, but maybe someone else has a better idea.

Keep them coming! I really like seeing your stuff. I’m not too much of a car booter as I prefer the jumble and a couple of local charity shops but I doubt there will be any jumbles for a very long time.

I have one charity shop I love ... the pile-it-high-sell-it-cheap type. I avoid the others...they are more like vastly over priced gift shops!

More than ever I think it is coral. I just tried this again myself to see if I still thought it was a valid test & concluded it is. Polished coral can be very very smooth. If you test it against your teeth, the way you would a pearl, it may seem glassy. But if you compare it with how actual glass feels to your teeth, you'll realize there is a faint roughness/graininess. Found I had to put a slight bit of pressure on the coral to be sure of feeling it. What I'm seeing is the way the piece of material is not a perfect cabochon shape at the back & edge, like some material had to be removed as unsuitable, & the little black spots look like the predator damage to coral, not like inclusions in stone. I find the color to be completely consistent with coral & the degree of opacity inconsistent with cornelian. That's my case.

Cuz...that all makes sense. It IS uneven at the back,in places ...going to set my teefs on it . I know what pearls feel like so that's good. Thank you xx
