    Hi everyone,

I hope everyone is well. I was hoping for some help dating or identifying this figurine. I am new to this area and am trying to learn as much as I can so I can answer this questions too :p From what I can tell I think it might be an Indian piece and from the looks of the casting inside, I think it might have a little age to it...though I know some modern pieces can fool newbies like me. Please let me know what you think.

Sorry for the blurry images, I only had my Tablet on me.

    Thanks in advance from Australia!

    Jason.

Tablet computers usually have a control panel for the camera somewhere in the menus. See if there is a macro setting you can access and use that. Or establish what is the minimum distance for sharp focus with the standard setting and use that, cropping out the wasted surround space if you have to stand further back. Ensure you have the best available light, more light means more depth of focus, and finally use some sort of support for the tablet, do not just wave it in the air. Holding the thing out and looking at the screen will work OK for brightly lit general scenery but not for closeups, and any help to steady the thing should be used.

Nowadays cameras in tablets and modern phones are remarkably capable, but only if they are used correctly, the automatic functions are OK for a bunch of gurning idiots taking selfies but are not designed for any form of specialist photography.
They can do an excellent job but only if you use and understand the special features that the designers have provided for special tasks.

Does not look Indian to me but more Chinese style an it is a ''earth touching'' Buddha.

Yes, must be Chinese! The pics are indeed very blurry! I overlooked the Asian Chinese longevity (Long Life) Symbol on his robe.

    You're right benbenny and CGB.
It is a fairly new piece, still being made, in the Sino-Tibetan style (Tibet and adjoining parts of China), with Shou symbols on the robe (longevity).
This is not made for Buddhists, the base is not closed or sealed, and never has been. Truly religious Sino-Himalayan Buddhas have a scroll with a sacred text inside.

Here is a little antique Vajrasattva Buddha. The base is closed and bears the Vishvavajra seal, one of the most powerful symbols in Vajrayana Buddhism, the kind of Buddhism practised in the Himalayan region.
    Height 8 cm/3.15"
