Carved Wood Lidded Bowl/Box

Any idea what the notch on the lid’s edge might be for? There is no matching one on the bowl’s rim for alignment.

    True but the lid’s rim is different.

    Looks to me like from India - used for dried fruit or spices, they usually had/have removable wooden dividers (the 'notch' looks like a chip to me)...

    @kardinalisimo Looks like a chip and reminds me of the wood bowl I have some of my shaving soap in .... India ? Maybe , but I get a handmade 1920's vibe out of it ..... If you can determine what the wood is it would help .
