What does this store?

I found this small container in my attic. It is about 4 inches long and screws apart into 3 tiny container pieces. I would like some help identifying what it is? What it stores and date.

 

Smelling salts, I suspect. Try googling on Catarrhozone, some interesting things.

See the word "catarrh" on the side of container.

From the Merriam-Webster Dictionary on-line.

Sooooo, I am guessing that it held a (patent?) medicine for "catarrah" or once the tube has been emptied you could put any "solution/home remedy" in the container for one's own use.

I notice that it has two caps for the tube (one cap with a hole in it for dispensing medicine and one solid cap to seal the container).

 

Here is another pic with it totally apart. The smallest piece of the base has a hole right through. The larger piece is a container from both ends.

Bakelite was invented in 1907

 

then the attribution of the material I found online is in error...

 

or some other plastic...maybe..

 

My mom is in her late 80's and recognizes it as Bakelite.
