Chinese Folk Art Paper Cuts

I have posted this in the Ephemera category, too. Not a find, but a re-find when clearing out a closet. Think it was a cheap buy on eBay years ago. What does one do with these? Any comments on use and age appreciated! Thanks! Wendy

These are made to be framed and hung on the wall for decoration. Most often they came in sets, unless they were exceptionally large. They aren't worth a lot, at least around here. The Chinese are still making and selling them.

 

Yes, they are even adding them to orders as freebies. They are decorative, but most are machine made.
Just frame and enjoy them.

 

Although I would reposition some, I would frame them more or less as you have presented them here: altogether, in one poster-style frame, on a lighter background mat. Use the one which ID's the collection as a signature.

 

Traditionally, people use them to decorate doors and windows.. (Paste and stick on glass.)

 

Ah, I bought them for future craft projects, so that's what they will remain -- part of my stash! They are quite decorative and would make interesting cards, too, I think. Thanks, all!

 

Paper cuts do. I make some that way myself, with an Xacto knife and card stock.
