This piece was destroyed in the seventies by my young nephew. It was marked on the back but I don't recall the maker after all these years. Does anyone recognize it? I'd love to search for another if possible and I'm just stuck. I recall my mom telling me it was of Echo, of myth. Also she said there was a Narsisis figure... At least that's what I seem to recall. Anyone know anything about this piece? Sorry about the blur... It's a poloroid from the early seventies. Thanks for any help!

Afraid this is more a porcelain question than a mythology one. Narcissus would be the appropriate companion figure as their stories are intertwined. AnitaDee's (welcome) figure seems to be calling while this version from KPM appears to be listening. I was looking to see if there is a convention for depicting her. She's a nymph, so gauzy apparel is standard. The flowers are a little odd since she is a mountain nymph, more like the maker showing off. The problem is that she may be out there, but unless what was written on the back was 'Echo', she may be going unrecognized & we would have to find her by description of appearance. Do you know what country she is from?

I suspect she was made in Germany, or possibly Austria.
Bisque ware most likely. She doesn't appear to be high glaze - hard to tell from the picture.
    Late 1800s time period.
    She was pretty.

Oh and welcome to the board.

Maybe “Art Nouveau bisque nymph” is a search term.
