benbenny007 I buy rubbish, and sell antiques

Would love to have that in my car! Shame it doesn't say Le Coultre after Jaeger :)

It is a pre war car clock, quite modest value unless you have a veteran car to restore.

Car restorers do pay for these, working or not. I have sold a few and though I don't remember all the details, I even have one repaired and made a profit after the cost of repairs.

Yeah having a 1927 Bentley to go with it would add value :D

    YUMMMMMMMMMM!

They look impressive but they don't go all that fast, they don't go round corners well and they don't stop well. Just about any reasonably nippy modern car would do better and not need anywhere near so much attention. The modern cars are also far more survivable. The big Bentley would crush a Honda Accord. Unhappily you are liable to thrown out and break when you hit the ground or other traffic.

I have driven many old cars including an Aston Martin DB5 and in general they are a PITA, apart from looking cool. Some are actively horrid. Often the gearbox is a more effective brake than the brakes. Often the steering is more like an exercise machine than a precise control. And don't mention suspension.

If doing it the hard way is attractive, and paying through the nose for the priviledge is acceptable, go for it. Otherwise get a BMW

Those English cars... here's a quote I found a while back:
"For those of you who have never had the pleasure of owning a British car, but want to know what it's like: Next big rainstorm, wait till dark, roll down all windows, leave off lights & heater & wipers and go for a drive. Stop at every intersection and throw out a twenty dollar bill. It's not exactly the same, but it's real close."

True enough. Not that most other cars were much better at the time.

Agreed - sort of like Frank LLoyd Wright's houses - D@mned impressive and quite innovative - but TOTALLY unlivable by today's standards.....................

If someone can suggest a reasonable value for this, I'd be rather interested in it. It has historical relevance to my family.

I'd not see it at more than £50, the market is very small and there are a few about, you'd quite possibly find one at a clock fair.

Ah, good thinking, I'll try that. Now I know they exist, makes it easier to search one out. Thank you.
