    Does anyone out there collect KPM porcelain? I have two questions. Question 1: Is it possible to identify a pattern for KPM dinnerware? Question 2: Do you think it is ok to break up sets of matching dinnerware by selling it to different people? How do people feel about that?

    I have two sets of KPM items that are parts of dinnerware. I would really like to know if the patterns can be identified. Then, I am considering selling some/most of them, but I have never ever broken up things before. I don't know if I want to do that. I'm torn.

    I would appreciate knowing more about these patterns. I would like to hear people's opinions on breaking up sets, even incomplete sets.

    I must be going blind--I didn't realize at first that those plates are reticulated.

    I usually break up sets because people are typically looking to replace certain pieces. China has become such a difficult sale. If you are trying to find the pattern by KPM - it might only go by the numbers typically on the backside (versus a name). You can also send a photo to replacements.com and they can tell you as well.

    And unless you can sell it locally, shipping is a nightmare.

    I ship china all the time. It is a pain to package large sets which is another reason I break it down. I did just have someone purchase 16 pieces of blue white china and paid more for the shipping then the plates.

    @Eric Haefli - Welcome to the forum!!!:happy::happy:

    I agree with @laura9797. I have been buying sets of dishes & glassware for the last 20 years at local auctions. I then usually sell the pieces in lots of 2, but I am always willing to pack as much as they want to buy. :smuggrin::smuggrin:

    Buyers are rarely looking for whole sets especially on-line. They are usually looking to replace a broken or damaged piece or just add to the set they already have.

    The plates you show appear to be some type of dessert set or possibly for a proper afternoon tea.

    Can we see some of the marks on the bottoms of the pieces? When you post them choose the full size image so that we don't have to click on each image. ;) :happy::happy:

    Thank you. I went to replacement services. While I could not find these patterns, they did have KPM pieces in their database. I was surprised. That made me think to look for KPM online. Believe it or not, KPM is still in business. I think KPM opened in the 1760s. KPM has an archive help line. I submitted photos and asked them if they could identify the patterns. I have not heard back yet. Thanks for the idea. It helped me realize that there might be answers out there.

    I very much appreciate the insight and experience shared. It has been fruitful. I contacted the KPM Factory and they have responded back with the pattern names of the tea cups and the dessert set. They have an archives department. Not only did they give me the names of the patterns, but they also gave me the years of manufacture.

    KPM is one of the oldest porcelain manufacturers in Europe. Before I submitted these questions, I did not even realize they were still in business. I've only been a member of this group for a week or so. I am enjoying reading people's threads and I have already benefited from your expertise.

    You guys are the best!!!

    Bercrystal, you make several good points that I hadn't considered. I am a newbee at selling. I appreciate benefiting from your 20 years of experience. Thank you for taking time to respond.
