No I don't recognize it, but the frame appears to be circa 1970s. Is there a signature? Do you want to show us the siggy? The back of the painting? The size?
I'm familiar with Guy/Giles Vidal, a French-Canadian jewelry designer among other things. He didn't paint that I know of but ....?
The painting was purchased, with another by the same artist, in 1982 in Torremolinos, Costa de Sol, Spain. The size inside the matting is 9x20. I have not seen the back. I am afraid if I open the frame, I will somehow damage the painting. Suggestions for opening appreciated. BTW - the paintings were framed when we returned from Spain.
Just to clarify, what sort of painting is this? It appears to be painted in gray tones. Painted with watercolor? Or painted using ink on a paintbrush? Are you certain that it's not a print of a painting? (I like it, by the way.)
I don't believe it is a print. There is no dotting as with a print and I can see pallet knife strokes, drips, etc. The painting is monochromatic black and appears to be oil paint with pallet knife.
