Featured Religious Pendant

I have this rather large cross shaped bottle that is intended to hang on a chain. Not sure what it would have been used for. I thought it might be silver but when I cleaned it the metal still had a different tinge of color. The size is 3 1/2" tall x 2 7/8" wide. Any thoughts?

 

I'm not sure it was ever a pendant per se. Holy water bottle maybe?

That's what it looks like. The size is right for a Holy Water bottle.

The colour may depend on the alloy or the fineness if it is silver. I suspect it is silver, check it for tiny marks.

 

Thank you Any Jewelry and evelyb30 for the comments. I did expect it to be silver and thought it might be for holy water but it would not hold very much. I could find no markings at all. Any thoughts on the age? Forgot to mention, there is one little red stone in the middle. Under a magnifier, it looks like a bunch of very small crystals.

 

You have there an Orthodox Christian holy water chatelaine, the design influence seems to be of that, I haven’t been able to narrow down and determine it’s vintage though. Maven ❤️
