What is this glass technique please?

Bought some old oil lamps, two came with globe shades.

Just looked at one shade and the decorative clear glass centre pattern is not engraved but raised above the glass, seemingly applied like enamel rather than being left by the surrounding surface being cut away. The applied glass has a different consistency, and has thousands of tiny specks, possibly bubble inclusions.

Is this enameling or does it have another name?

Closest is cameo but that's not quite right.

Thanks Bear, but I think this is applied not cut.

No other replies, so I'll go with enamelled glass.

Mm. Me too. I know some glass artists who may know, I'll ask.

found some of these on UK eBay listed as new in original retail packaging; one mentions handmade in Spain. Listed as 'Traditional frosted glass lamp shade globe'. Description is etched frosted and clear. One seller listed these in quantities with 5 currently available and 236 sold; brand noted as Oaks...

No, it wasnt etched but applied. That was what was so unusual.
