Abstract Oil On Wooden Board Painting Signed C. Kincaid Sr

There was an artist Clarence Kincaid, Sr. (1908 - 1990) but I am not finding anything abstractish by him. Do you think it could be him?

Given the time frame, he would no doubt have been aware of the abstract expressionists. Maybe he decided to give it a whirl. Look at the other references see if you can find examples of the signature. See if he usually painted on masonite. I quite like it. I don't think a rank amateur could do as well. It must be very heavy.

found few paintings by him but no clear image of the signature.
Actually, the painting is not that heavy. why do you think it must be heavy?

where i find them? TS's, antique places and malls, auctions, estate sales etc.

 

It's funny, I was going to ask that too - where do you find all these paintings?

 

Masonite is a lot heavier than canvas. How big is this?

 

It is about 23 1/2" x 31 3/4" without the frame.

 

That size is about my guess.

I didn't look closely at the Google hits the name got, but even the little blurbs visible mentioned a couple of people who said they had several paintings by him. Maybe you could contact one of them? Or find an auctioneer who had handled his paintings?

 

I found a painting by Kincaid senior one side has a painting of trees and then the other side is abstract is there any other information about this fellow?

 

Appears he liked to experiment. Here's an impressionist painting by him.
