Featured A floral Decorated Seated Pig Figure

I really like this pig 26cm high.
It is aged and transfer printed, but would anyone know the style and perhaps who might of manufactured?

I think it's refered to as Spongeware. A picture of the bottom may help someone ID manufacture.

 

Looks like an homage to Wemyss ware. 1970s-ish from the floral print I'd think. Let's see what others say.

70s into early 80s. No idea where it came from, but it's cute. There are lots of pig collectors so these still have an audience.

 

It has little flowers all over, not sponge globs.

 

Would have been called a "granny print" in the 1970s. But, agree with above that could be a bit later.

He does have that cocky self-assurance that Wemyss pigs usually portray.

A lesser quality, lesser cost knock-off I would think.

The others say they are decoupage? What is decoupaged on to the pottery--paper or fabric?

 

There's a Joan Baker Designs still in business. But a different product line.

It's decoupage style, indeed, and 1970s. There was a British company made these, and I've totally forgotten the name. I still have cats like it. I know one of the Hornsea companies did them as well. It's a transfer made to look like decoupage with a heavy glaze.
