Thinking early European subject but maybe American? Metal trim(unknown) around (enamel?) Painting. Peeled the damaged paper back and see no sign of attachment the backing material mounted to is more like mole hair(not felt).

Does anyone recognize these and could possibly guess at dating them.

    Always grateful
    Marco

Well to be honest, it looks like some porcelain box lid that has been framed? I could be wrong of course

Think it was always meant to be a decorative plaque. I see so many cameos that are basically like this: a landscape with a sketchy figure or 2; a bridge over a stream; some broken down trees; a distant church; a ruined castle or abbey. A Chinese menu list of elements that get mixed 'n' matched, except the trees are an absolute requirement to frame the scene. Sometimes ducks or a goat.

Moleskin? Could be Limoges. Is the gold trim painted on?

    2 points ...:hilarious:

At first I didn't think so, but I broke out the loupe and indeed, trim is hand painted. So does that make them relatively new? Chinese.....

    Thank you...

I'd say it means not originally box lids or anything other than what they are. The level of detail required to do the gold inclines me to not so new, although I wouldn't want to say older than 1940s. Maybe someone will know something about the frames that gives a clue to age.

Yah, I think it was all made to be a decorative item, it's beautifully done, but not older than the 40s I wouldn't think either. Just my guess, tho. :p

Thank you, just wondering if anyone knows if there is a descriptive name for this type of wall art? I am finding it difficult to search.

I'd call it a framed decorative wall plaque painted with figures in a classical landscape with ruins.

They've improved it, or it has improved itself through machine learning, but when I first tried image search for cameos, I kept getting piles of whipped cream.
