Featured Help with crown, arm, serpent symbol

??? This cannon is about 3 ft. Long, please what is the cast-in symbol/logo?

 

I can only find an arm holding a sword with a serpent around it.
Do you know where the cannon came from, which country?

 

No idea, person was offered 5 completely different cannons with no provenance.

 

Spring, are cannons something that are repro'd?

 

Yes but I can spot a repro about 99% of the time. The one pictured has never been reproduced to my knowledge, way too much cost to do it, and I’d still be able to tell.

bluumz, thanks much! Poor ‘ole Robin Leach is gone or I’d put him onto it. The guy who had them offered to him seems to be sitting on the deal, so I’ll probably never get a crack at them but I sure have enough scrap metal already.

I don’t have my crown variants rank chart near but based on the cannon’s being made of inexpensive cast iron, the Leach who had those made was probably only a baron. I owned a pair of Viscount Courtenay’s cannons once, they were beautiful bronze weapons made in 1775.

 

So, @springfld.arsenal, how old do you estimate the cannon you're questioning, to be please?? 1800's, 1700's???

 

1st half 19 th C. Or so.

 

I'm sure there's a whole load of these in Fairbairn's book of crests ..If I wasn't such a lazy bum I'd go take it off the bookshelf and have a look
