Beautiful, Geostar. Probably after a pre-existing Madonna painting, someone else will find the original.:)
These often came from convents and monasteries, or home chapels for those who could afford them. She needs some real tlc.

Looks italian school and unless it has been relined, is 19th c.
Canvas shows a lot of flexing by the look of all those cracks, but as the rear view looks OK there's a good chance it has been relined. That could mean the flexing took place before the repair which would tend to place the painting earlier in date. Style is certainly older, 17thc -18thc.
Check the edges of the work to see if there is a thicker layer of canvas on top of the backing canvas. Nice quality old master BTW

    Is this a large (life-size) piece ?

    Maybe After Carlo Dolci?

    I think that's a strong possibility.

Very nice! I might put it early to mid 19th c. Most likely Italian.

You'd be better off with "Italian School. 19th Century."

Although it has been suggested this is a portrait of the Madonna, I think it is also quite possible that this could be Mary Magdalen.
Mary Magdalen is usually depicted in repentance looking upward toward an out of frame crucifixion, Guido Reni's iconic interpretation.
Most images produced subsequently are variations on the Reni painting.
However, not all images of the Magdalen are skyward-gazing (although I have one!) - there are a few that show her in other poses, but very often she is seen with her hands crossed in preparation for prayer, as in the painting being discussed.

Thank you all for your help!
I think is Carlo Dolci, I found the same painting on the internet.
I will take it to be restored.
    Size: 40 cm x 31 cm + frame

To explain, yours is likely another artist version of his work.

What name was given for the painting when you found it? And did it tell the whereabouts of the painting?

Agreed. Totally. Although I would never have been able to think through all of that to type it out! Some of those on the board are so very intelligent, you are certainly one! Thank you so much for such a beautiful religious art interpretation!

Yes, perfect title to sell it! &Thank you, Debora, for always sharing your art knowledge too!

Thank you, I meant that this is an old reproduction of a painting, its just that the original seems to be made by Carlo Dolci.

I searched for Carlo Dolci Madonna and there were a lot of similar paintings, and this one too.

    Thank you all again!

I have an another probably old religious painting, can I link it here or should I make a new topic for that? I am not that familiar with the site and its rules.

Post a new thread, that's probably the best idea.
