Several friends and I went to the Antiques Roadshow in Harrisburg PA last weekend. It's always an interesting trip.

But last year in Virginia Beach it was more fun because there was more interesting stuff being brought in. In PA, I think we saw more guns and Victorian walnut furniture than anything. We also didn't see the Keno twins this trip and far fewer of the usual people from the show.

I took a ladies gold watch that had been converted to a wristwatch with a grosgrain ribbon that my mother gave me one Christmas. I had never opened it assuming it was gold plated. But it was real gold and worth about $350. I also took my grandmother's pearls, which I knew weren't real pearls or cheap painted glass beads either. They were some type of shell bead coated with more ground shell and are better faux pearls. They were worth about $60. The third item was a Sterling guilloche pin with gold foil and tiny jewel inserts. It's what I kept from a collection that I had and sold off last year. It was also worth about $60.

It was a fun trip. We got away for the day and enjoyed ourselves. We were also very tired when we got back.

I see in my other thread there was a comment about the early shows and the wait. That was the first that I went to also. It was in Baltimore. The line was around the block when we got there 2 hours early. The front of the line actually spent the night on the sidewalk. We didn't stay but walked around the block looking at what people had brought. The majority could have stayed home. I think people are more knowledgeable now after so many seasons of the show.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Sounds interesting, and fun. A friend told me last year that they were only allowed to bring two items each, but you describe three. Is there actually a limit stated? I might have misunderstood my friend.

I went about 10 years ago when it was here in Tampa. Has a great time and one of my items was worth over $750. I was pleased. didn't get on TV, but saw myself in the background of several items being featured. Funny, but you really don't notice when they are filming appraisals. I know I didn't . The line wasn't bad, they kept you moving pretty well. they would let 60-100 people into the appraisal area about every 10 to 15 minutes. seemed to work well.

She said "we", and the limit is two per person. I did it once when you had to wait in those long lines. Nothing I had was worth much, but my ten cent pendant watch was worth about $10.(LOL)

I got filmed when the American Roadshow came to Toronto, but alas, I died on the cutting room floor.

We went to Chicago a few years ago. Eric Silver was not pleased when I corrected him after he said my bronze was an original "Edward Villanis" Reve' with tiffany studios stamp, in addition to appropriate foundry mark. It is actually Emmanuel Villanis and he told me it was worth $2500-$3500. My french francois gauttier automaton was worth $1200-$1500. My kazak rug was supposedly worth $3000-$4000 according to james ffrench but unfortunately sold for only $800 at Skinners auction. Finally, my tiffany studios chinese desk lamp was worth $6500-$7500.

You are correct...two per person so my wife ultimately agreed to take two. All being said, a great time!

The limit is 2 but my friend doesn't take anything. So, I give him 1 or 2 things of mine.

I was walking past the filming area and someone was telling me to get off the carpet! I was engrossed in the tables with the celebrities. Finally, my friend got my attention. lol

I won tickets to Palm Springs AR last year, but gave the years tickets to a friend when something came up I couldn't get out of. :bored:
