Measures approximately 81" x 70". The pattern is Log Cabin, but might be some type of variation with those line patterns in it. Can't find my quilt book right now:(
This quilt feels as though it has never been washed, but it has areas of deterioration and/or moth damage :(. It just apparently wasn't stored well. I'm really trying to date this. My guess is 20's, but I wonder if it could be earlier. I'm no good at trying to date fabrics though. I think it is all hand stitched, but need to investigate further. No batting between top & bottom. Many different fabrics used. Help, pretty please! Thanks for your time.:)

There is a fabric in there that is similar to a dress my mother wore in the 1930s. I adjusted it in the 70s and wore it to death. I have always loved 30s fashion.

All those small scale plaids... Look like remnants from a young girl's school dresses.

    Hi,
Nice quilt, now if only 6 rivets was still here she would tell you what day and month it was done in. I miss her so much. She was the quintessential quilt person.

That's to whom I referred! She gave us her name once, and she is a recognized authority on such things. I miss her too!

I'd say 1930s too. The backing fabric may be the clue; it's screaming early 30s at me. The front could be scraps from old clothing or whatever was handy, but someone had to out and but all that backing.

Buy the backing, that is.... It might be a lot older and it's fooling me, but I don't think so. That brown back looks like it's supposed to be one of those ugly 30s house dresses.
