This is a small oil painting but with a very odd expensive framing . It has a signature but I cannot make out who it is. Any thoughts ? sailboat (1).jpg sailboat (2).jpg sailboat (3).jpg

Not sure this is very old at all. Would guess this is factory work...can we see the back?

I'm sticking with factory/decorative ...maybe as old as 1980s with the yellowing of that tape.

Sam, yours does appear to be a decorative painting from a factory. It has no intrinsic value; it's value is what someone will pay for it.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

What size is the little painting, within the frame, please??? Just curious!

Two of these factory paintings in the same snazzy frames are in a nearby charity shop for $20 each, if I recall. There are heaps of them around just now.

my lord that's a bad painting.....maybe took all of 15 minutes...
and why is the back of the frame black?

lol I'll try to upload more pictures but the framing is very very heavy very thick on the side so it doesn't make sense to put something like that on a picture that's just cheap. I could be wrong still but I have a feeling there's something more to it I just can't figure out what

The frame looks like cast resin or plaster like material to me. There really isn't anything more to your painting. These type of decorative factory paintings are often sold in big gaudy frames that have the appearance of being old but really aren't.

I worked in a shop that sold these paintings. 100% factory painted.
