Of course, we're working without dimensions but... I don't think the proportions are correct for a bread cupboard. And I think the hooks are appropriate for steading a heavy upper cupboard but not securing it.

Then again... Here is something very similar from a Spanish auction site. OP can compare measurements: 84.5 cm length x 27 cm depth x 84 cm height. The piece is called an alacena.

That's it, I'd say an exact match done in distressed paint. Auction site said antique but I'd guess more like vintage at best that is built to look old.
The chances that you'd have exact same spindles, doors, hardware, hinges, etc on something old are pretty close to zero.

My Spanish is rusty, but an alacena is for food storage? I thought a bread cupboard, so not far off.

Cupboard. But, yes. Associated with food.

I'd guess more likely associated with the tourist trade. :p

You have never been to Spain, have you.:playful: Many Spanish homes have this style of furniture. Besides, Todocoleccion is for the domestic market, not for tourists.

Todocoleccion is a Spanish-version of eBay (although eBay exists in Spain too.) It's a very good research resource.

Well, there you go, it is so valuable it's just a small step away from being put out on the curb.
It's attractive but I'd guess a modern version of a hanging wall cupboard built to look antique but actually isn't.

Nicole never suggested it was valuable, nor did anyone else. She just wanted to know more about it.
And it was never made to look antique, this is a traditional Spanish style that is still made to this day. There is a huge difference between traditional and repro or fake.

We all know stories of very valuable things being thrown out as trash, btw.

Think the corbels in the pic go under the cupboard for additional support.

Could be. I thought they were something unrelated that just happened to be there. The style is slightly different, but they would do the job.

I would certainly hope so. And they would take it out of the kitchen.

You know... On second look, given its size and the way the bottom is finished, really think that was meant to sit atop a second piece.

We used to get a lot of Catalan bread cupboards here, those were always standing and one piece. Obviously this is not a Catalan bread cupboard, just thinking aloud.;)
The fact that it is hanging reminded me of Provençal bread cupboards, which hung on the wall to prevent vermin climbing up.
