Though it may be gold, or NOT.....THAT I'm NOT sure of!!!! It is 1-13/16" in diameter, weighs 75 grams, and if my memory serves me correctly, it WAS part of a necklace that my 2 older brothers wanted their share of (rightfully so)....so the setting this "coin" was in I believe had to be removed somehow.....which is why you see the ROUGH edges.... I'm hoping maybe @daveydempsey or other coin people here can tell if it's even real! It DOES look to be crudely made, I don't have a gold test kit....yet, but it is NOT magnetic in the least!! And that's where my expertise ends as far as this 'piece' lies! Except here it is.....hoping for a bit of help, and as always, thank you SO MUCH!!! AND Davey, if you don't think it belongs HERE, then PLEASE move it to GENERAL DISCUSSION..... I'm not crazy about posting this stuff for the web!!!:rolleyes: BTW....NO markings anywhere on it other than what it reads!

So will a metal testing kit tell me what kt I could be dealing with, if it even IS gold?

It depends on the kit, buy usually they do AFAIK ...I do "old school" testing, touchstone (bit of slate) with a few bits of known, but varying karat gold.
Make a stripe on the stone with each, then a stripe with the test piece then wipe the stripes with nitric acid and watch the disappearing act. The known one that matches the dissolve rate with the tested piece is how you determine the karat.
