It is a piece from the 1920s, obviously painted. The "furnies" will be along with more information soon!

You should take out one of the drawers and photograph the bottom and the joints. Much more can be deduced from details.

Earlier than that, I'd say. Late 19th into early 20th before someone got at it with a bad tin of paint.

(sigh) Probably the only way to sell it, more's the pity. Wheels are off the feet too.

I do have the wheels (well, 3 are the same and 1 is different) :) It has been painted at least twice :-( I was thinking about refinishing it. There doesn't appear to be any wood chips, cracks or broken pieces. It was in a chicken coop and I purchased it for $50. Just hoping I got a good deal.

If you did want to replace the wheels, the vintage / antique casters are available on ebay.

1920s and it really doesn't matter who made it. American depression era traditional furniture. I sincerely doubt that French hardware is original. It really has no value as an antique. If it is pleasing and functional for you, you got a good deal at $50.00. What can you buy new for that kind of money that would work as well?

No veneer. No junky cardboard on the back, and no Ikea sawdust. Pressboard is made of wood scrap and glue. Nasty stuff.
