1851 letter re Russell's No Popery

    Interesting letter, we think 1851, written by a Catholic.

    I've got this listed for sale as unidentified, but if anyone can make out the signature and address, I'd love to know!

    I agree Edward, but I think there may be an extra letter to be Lattimer, I've tried Leadbetter with no success.

    Is Leathner a surname? Or Lathner?

    All I can make of the address is that the second word is Holme. Loughny? (of course that doesn't use up the 2 verticals at the end.)

    Not sure Bakers, those dont sound right.

    It is a bit like doing a cryptic crossword. Get one part of the clue and the other part serves to confirm. Here both address and surname are obscure!

    The last three letters look like "ers". The first letter looks similar to the way the writer wrote the letter "I".
