What about the GT (if I am right). Is there a G. Tolstoy?

This is how you write Mrs. in Russian. Maybe that's what it says?

    Г-жа.

I saw Ma Tolstoy, and like Johnny, I also see Ina Tolstoy.

Now that is interesting, I thought it was a female to female letter.

Or Ina. Looks a bit like it could be Ina as Cluttered said. And the crest could be IT

I think the letter is addressed to Bardett not Baskett

I thought so, too, but the k in the name is the same as the k in the word "thanks."

I saw that after I posted. But there is no "d" to compare to.

You may have a hard time pinning it down. These are just Leo's descendants. He had 2-3 brothers and a sister who was married to a Tolstoy.

Might have better luck searching Donhead geneology.

Ok, another 2 hours gone by but a possibly intriguing lead (or red herring).

Reverend Richard White Blackmore appears to have been the rector at Donhead (st Mary or st Andrew) between 1847 and 1882. We think that Donhead House was the rectory for Donhead St Andrew

He was the author/translator of books on Russia and in 1819 was minister without episcopal licence at the Russia Company church in Kronstadt

So the Russian connection may not be far fetched after all!
