I D Please - Parian - Old Paris?? Other?

Any suggestions? I have seen this somewhere before, now that I have it, can find no other example. Help Please?

 

You might try Janus for a keyword. Janus was a Roman god with 2 faces, one looking to the past and the other to the future.

I do not think Janus, looks like two godesses with long hair. Are both images the same? Is it porcelain or ceramic. How tall is it? I have so many questions when I do not have it in hand to check.

Thanks Greg, not ceramic(?), almost like alabaster, but not. about 3 1/2 inches tall
two faces the same, women with crown or head covering of leaves. Way out of my realm here - if I even have one? Seams on both side. I read the definition of Parian ware and it fits this piece. Very art nouveau look to me. Thanks again for your expertise!

 

Ceramics are any kind of fired clay. Unless it's glass, it's pretty sure that this is ceramic. Probably porcelain. I doubt it would fit either Parian or Old Paris - just bisque porcelain (fired but unglazed).

 

I think you may have a depiction of the Greek Daphne. She is often shown during the metamorphosis into a laurel tree.

 

Certainly not Janus. Janus was a male god and usually depicted with a beard. This figure is a Caryatid. Note the flat top of the crown. Caryatids were used in place of the usual Greek columns, Doric, Ionic and Corinthian. The most famous caryatids, six of them, appear on the temple on the Acropolis
