When I bought, I didn't even remember that they made this version.

Bumping this older thread for newer members to see!

Hard to believe that it has been almost 20 years since DVDs dethroned the VHS tape.

I saw a DVD tape of Office Space (one of my favorite movies) shown at a sale recently. Got there and it was gone. I still have my VHS but it is not hooked up.

    lloyd249 it's not hoarding if it's valuable

I have a vcr hooked up for the grand daughter as she loves the old disney movies , i have close to 100 vhs, all store bought
What you want to look for is the black diamond issues , they were only released for a short time, and then they vaulted them , but the prices vary so much for the same ones, ebay thing lol.

Now I see DVDs dethroned, in favor of streaming movies. :(

Apparently Disney sees "physical media" as a barrier to their profitability and is going to incrementally phase out Blu Ray discs and DVDs so they can have total control over their content. I expect the future to be something like the recent Mulan film with viewers having to pay a subscription to the service and a fee per view to see the actual movie.

Will there be a mad scramble to buy back all those Disney VHS tapes at the thrift store before physical media is gone forever?

The high sold prices some Disney black diamond VHS have achieved are fake listings/shill bids to promote the ongoing fallacy. They are not rare, and the whole thing is a well-played joke that has evolved into an urban legend. There was a time when some minor Disney movie VHS could bring a couple hundred $$ but that was before they made it to DVD. Some Disney black diamond VHS may still bring up to $25 if you're lucky, most will sell for much much less... if at all.
