art nouveau silver plate box help

hey everyone

found this box in the shed

musta been there for years

its it very bad nick in terms of finish, but i really like the shape of it

measures 9 1/2 inches by 6

i take it that its silver plate on copper/brass ?

any advice on cleaning(who can i get to do it for me), thinking the finish would be better as one thing

any thought appreciated

 

Looks Jungendstil/WMF or similar.

 

Honest wear. Can see how it'd appeal. Are you sure it's not a cigar box? (Size seems right.)

In the third picture up from the bottom, there appears to be a mark near the bottom of the drape. Is a better picture possible?

would look lovely replated, but will see whats its like with a modest clean up first

nothing there, but found mark where the linked one said it had

very stubborn tarnish, im knackered just cleaning that part !

& of course there's a cross in it !!

the chains quite nice, using it for something else, but the cross is spent

as you can see the shed is no more, but did find a dead sparrowhawk in there !

big beautiful thing. he looked like he had just given up,wings all tucked in, with a disgruntled look on his face

he looked like taxidermy !

presuming not buddy as the cross looks plated, the thought did cross my mind when i first saw it though, but there are small areas of plating loss up close

Cedar? lined. A jewelry box would have been cloth lined.

 

hi cc, good point, yeah might be so, no lock on this one either

its coming up alright actually, theres more plating left than i had previously thought (apart from one side)

the way its going though im planning to do one side everyday

got a feeling its gonna come up roses
