Hi everyone - I'm new here and could use our input. Purchased this recently at auction and I'm having trouble identifying both the region and the purpose. It's about 6 inches tall and therefore too large to be a gold weight (I would think...). Stylistically, it doesn't strike me as Ashanti, either. Anyway, any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated..

All the Ashanti weights I've seen are sand cast (rough finish) and don't look like this, but maybe this is an exceptional one?

    I have.
The bad news is, it is not an Ashanti goldweight.
The good news is, it is much more rare and valuable. It is a Batak bronze ancestor figure from Sumatra, Indonesia.:)
That funny bend in the arms is seen on some Batak bronzes.

As in, if she's legit she's worth a few Euro more than the OP spent? :)

I don't know how much she spent, but it is worth more than an Ashanti goldweight.
The figure is a he, btw, I think you missed a detail.:playful:
