What did I buy? Old clay vase. Is it Native American??

I bought this today in a charity store. Is it a vase or a vessel? They were not asking much for it so I couldn't resist. Looks very old to me and the paint is very fragile and crackling. My husband thinks it's maybe America area. He said that one side is a bit darker in color which makes him believe that it was ones buried?

Any thoughts?

In the UK. We were visiting London today where I bought this piece. But i dont think its from this area. People internationally come and go to London, so we find many items here from overseas countries.

 

It isn't Native American. No American tribe made pottery using this combination of form, clay type, and decorating technique and pattern.

It appears to be made by the Berber tribe, in Morocco. One often sees this particular tall, vase-like form from there, (often, but not always, with distinctive handles.) The clay is the right color, as is the red patterned decoration. The cross-hatched "V" or hour glass shape is also distinctively Berber.

If not Berber, I would at least suggest a similar North African origin.
