I can remember seeing these on my Mum's dressing table from the age of five. I was never aloud to touch them and clearly they were very highly prized.
I cannot find anything like them on the net, are they something from the long lost treasure of the Italian Renascence, or more likely a prize from the bottom shelf of a fairground shooting range? I need to know what they are before I put them in the bin.
They are 10 cm wide and 8 cm to the top of the pointy bit. The opening is 4 cm.
Thank you for your help so far.

Hello, Maggy. They look really interesting. Could you go back to your post, choose edit, then other options & make your photos full size so we can see them better?

Even full size, these pix are quite small. May need to resize. Meanwhile, I don't think they are fairground fare.

They look like glass ring holders, how large are they?

These look very pretty and one looks signed(?), but I really cannot see anything from your small photos. You can email them to yourself resized as "Medium" please.

Sorry about the size of the pictures, the software refused full size. Hope they are better now, thanks.

OH THEY'RE GORGEOUS!!! I LOVE THEM!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHOWING US!!!

I still think they are ring holders. I would put them on my dresser too. I sure hope someone can identify them for you. Much better chance now that we can see them! ;)

So, wait, I just realized, you said, "trinket boxes" above, so there are removeable lids! Yes, for small precious items and the top for one or two rings each!

I can't wait to see if anyone can id them! :)

Thank you antidiem, sorry I should have said the lids came off, please see pictures. I do hope someone can id them, I do not think they look particularly old, however I can trace them back at least 80 years in my family. Why did I not ask Mum when I had the opportunity?

I would like to hang on to them, at least until we find out what they are. I have spent hours researching them and found absolutely nothing. At some point they will have to go and by all means you can have first refusal. Are we OK to use this forum to sell things? if so how, without giving contact details to the world?

I want you to find out what they are too! There is a "sell" forum here and I think you can be contacted through your personal messaging system at top of page. Occasionally I do buy something from a member. Please tag me if you decide later to sell them. At the very least, I want to watch them! ;)
