Could this be soapstone?

I found this trinket jar at Goodwill and I loved the swirling pink color. Upon closer inspection I noticed little holes in it which seems to me to be part of this piece. It has a little yellowing from time that would not come off after cleaning. At its widest point its 3.25" wide x 2.5" tall with the lid on.

There is an African soapstone which is similar, and tends to have reddish areas due to iron. Commonly used for export crafts; others will know more.

Is it possible that is what this is?

Hard to say; the round holes could also indicate a cast product, but some of them seem too irregular or large for that; but let's see what others think.
