Cleaning out my stuff and thought I'd give back a little. I have 4 books for giveaway and I pay for shipping for North American Continent. So there will be 4 winners who will chose which book they want or pass if the book they wanted is gone.

Will make the drawing on Wednesday, August 12 at night EST.

1 - Victorian Furniture, Our American Heritage by Kathryn McNerney, softcover, 253 pages (14 oz)

2 - Trunks, Traveling Bags and Satchels by Roseann Ettinger, softcover, 160 pages (1lb 1oz)

3 - Care and Repair of Furniture by Albert Jackson and David Day, hardcover with dust jacket, signed by both authors, 160 pages (2lbs 2oz)

4 - Two Hundred Years of American Blown Glass by Helen and George S. McKearin, hardcover with dust jacket, 382 pages (3lbs 3 oz)

@AJefferson , am also downsizing my books, so not tossing my name in your hat, but just wanted to say THANK YOU!!

I donated about 50 books to the Salvation Army today - a very large tote box filled with large sized books - because I didn't know what else to do with them? Now only thousands more to go! I wish you the best to find good homes for your lovely books. :cat:

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

None for me, as I am downsizing my book collection a little. Just by about 100 books, though, not thousands. It is very generous of you! These will be useful for anybody who is interested in the topics.

@antidiem , one thing to consider is whether there is any book sale or shop to benefit the public library. I donated about 60-70 books last week to a book sale room that is run by the local Friends of the public library group. Salvation Army is not a bad idea, though. Wish I had thought of it!

I also approached the university library where I worked for many years. They have just reopened after being closed for almost 5 months. They are more selective and are making me do some work. Yesterday I typed up a list of my remaining books, including copyright dates and ISBN numbers, and sent it on to a staff member. They will let me know which ones they want. Maybe I'll offer the others here!

Thank you, Fig! I will check into our local libraries - I would be fine to donate them there. I went to the Sally in order to get the charitable tax donation receipt, but each very nice book is only worth about five bucks on a tax form (without the original receipt), not the best value for my books, but happy to have any write-off. I am certainly going to take more totes of beautiful books ::somewhere:: for donation, so I can def check with the library too, thanks!

I think I have that glass book sitting here, Lord knows why. Someone else can have these who might actually need them.

None of my business but... I always check with eBay first to see if any have resale value before donating books.

Thanks, Debora, I did that. I don't want to keep ten dollar and under books anymore. I did find a few that were way pricier and kept them. I'm going through a second tote now... I have collected many thousands of books!

The slick beautiful coffee table books are just too heavy for me to want to ship out nowadays anyways. I can get $5 per book tax credit for charitable donation. I need the write offs for next year! ;)
