Silverplate Compote Dish?

Discussion in 'Antique Discussion' started by Brooke Anderson, Sep 16, 2020.

  1. Hello Antiquers....

I am back with another question or 2! :)

Is this called a "compote dish?" Bowl? Not even compote? I am guessing this is International Silverplate by the hallmark? Also if it is IS, when I looked that company up I see they were in charge of many other makers so? I was curious about the glass as well. I cant seem to find anything on this... wondering who was the glass maker as well. Well that was more like 20 questions but if anyone has any info that could help me I would greatly appreciate it!

    Cheers ~

I think this could also be called a Tazza or comport:)

I have never seen a mark like that identified as International or any other manufacturer. I just checked 3 online and 1 hard copy reference for silver plate marks - not there either. I would not claim it in a listing.

  4. Thanks for looking. I did see one other “IS” in a shield like that yesterday while searching so that’s why I guess it. I also just now found another compote just like this one but different glass dish, unfortunately no information! Hahaha sigh..

    Thanks for your help!

  5. Thank you! I found and article a few minutes ago about the difference between Tazza, Compote and Comport from the Silverware guy site! So thanks for your help :)
